The County Road Cycle Classic

This exciting annual cycle race is an amazing experience and showcases the best of Manawatu’s scenery, from stunning views of river valleys to the native bush at the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges. The race is held in January so make sure you only get the best weather and most amazing views.

Starting with a gentle 90km incline, the route then plunges 600m to a roller coaster-like 40km of hard work and sweat. Not to worry though - the last 30km to Memorial Park are flat and make the sprint home a dream. The cycle race can be done solo, as a 2-4 person relay or in a team of 4-6, which means that cyclists of all ages, experiences and skill level can participate. This great race happens in January and is not to be missed.

Sounds of Summer

Palmerston North is home to a great community spirit and the Sound of Summer concert series only aims to improve that spirit. With concerts scheduled from January 10 right through to February 19, 2016, there is sure to be a concert for even those with the most eclectic taste in music. The Esplanade Sunday Concert series and the Lunchtime concert series aim to champion local talent and provide great free concerts for the Manawatu community. With acts being announced in October, this is definitely something to keep an eye out for.
